At Sheilas’ Wheels we think that the Internet should be accessible to everyone regardless of ability. That’s why we are making changes to our website so that it is accessible to all. It’s not an easy task but we are currently working towards W3C’s WAI standards for web accessibility. We hope that you’ll bear with us through the changes to the site as we work towards better accessibility.
Below are the changes that we have made to the site so far. We hope that you find these improvements useful.
To make you aware when a new window will open, we have labeled the links with this icon. Where you see this icon the link will launch in a new browser window.
Example: This is a link to a page that opens a new browser window
Alternatively if the link is on a blue background the icon will appear like this
This icon indicates that the link that is is attached to launches a PDF document.
Example This is a link that would open a PDF document
If you find the default font size hard to read, please click on the "A" button on the right hand side of the navigation bar, at the bottom of the page. The small "A" will return the text to the default size, while the other "A" buttons will increase the text proportionately.
The page contrast can be changed by clicking on the right hand 'A' button on the bottom navigation bar. This will increase the text size and change the page background to black with white writing.
To make it easier for people using a non-visual access device such as a screen reader, every page on this site features a "Skip Navigation" link. This allows users to jump directly to the content of each page, thus avoiding repetitive navigation links which their screen reader might take some time to move through on each page.
This site can be navigated using access keys. These make it easy for people who are unable to use a mouse or other pointing device to navigate to the main parts of the site using a keyboard only. To use the Access Keys below in:
Internet Explorer 6, 7 & 8 Users: Alt + Access Key, Enter
Firefox Users: Shift + Alt + Access Key
Safari: Hold down the CTRL key and press the number of the access key
Chrome: Alt + Access key
Please note that in some browswers the numeric pad keys on your keyboard will not work. Use the main row of numeric keys instead.
The following access keys are available on each page:
Accesskey "s": Skip navigation
Accesskey "1": Car Insurance
Accesskey "2": Home Insurance
Accesskey "3": About Us
Accesskey "4": FAQs
Accesskey "5": Helpful Resources
Accesskey "6": News
Accesskey "7": Media Centre
Accesskey "8": Contact Us
Accesskey "9": Site map
Accesskey "0": Accessibility
